Work packages & Deliverables

SIMBA II’s four work packages represent the four main areas of activity necessary in order for the project to achieve its objectives:

1. Project management

2. ITS Development

3. Infrastructure Development

4. Dissemination

Because of SIMBA’s geographical spread, National Coordinators have been chosen for all countries/regions to facilitate the Project Coordinator’s management of the project - in particular in terms of defining national priorities and preparing the project events. It will also ensure that the right stakeholders are involved at the local level.

Objectives per Workpackage

Work Package 1 – Project Management

• carry out technical and administrative coordination of all project activities, establishment implementation throughout the project of a quality assurance plan.

• manage the project work plan.
• ensure work progress according to schedule.
• assume editorial responsibility for deliverables.

Work Package 2 – ITS Development

• together with the keys stakeholders, define road transport needs and requirements in Russia.
• create expert groups for Brazil, China, India, Russia and South Africa to engage in preparatory technical work.

Work Package 3 – Infrastructure Development

• develop the 'scaling up' process with India, Russia and South Africa in the range of infrastructure issues that generated interest in the first SIMBA project.

• define key road transport priorities and cooperation areas for Russia.

Work Package 4 – Dissemination and Exploitation

• ensure an optimal dissemination of project activities and results through promotion and dissemination of information in Europe and Brazil, China, India, Russia and South Africa.

• define a strategy for further development of the established road transport research cooperation between Europe and the SIMBA II participants.
