SIMBA's first Steering Committee meeting

Creation date: 12 June 2006

SIMBA held its first Steering Committee Meeting on June 6 at ERTICO in Brussels. Participants included representatives from the European Commission, the SIMBA National Coordinators - Associacao Brasileira de Engenharia Automotiva (AEA) from Brazil, ITS China (ITSC), Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) from India and Infrastructure System Operations and ITS Laboratory (CSIR) from South Africa – as well as the European Partners European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA/EUCAR), Forum of European National Highway Research Laboratories (FEHRL) and ITS Denmark (ITSD).

The fruitful meeting gave participants a good understanding of the latest developments in Europe and emerging markets on road transport and was an excellent start of the SIMBA project! It included a welcome speech by EC DG Research’s Patrick Mercier-Handisyde, the EC’s SIMBA project officer. Ms Ines Minguez, also representing the EC, gave a presentation about International Scientific Cooperation in FP7.

ERTICO, EUCAR and FEHRL gave presentations on European development and priorities on ITS, Automotive and Infrastructure respectively. National coordinators introduced the State-of-the-art of Road Transport in their countries and their priorities in these three areas.
