Successful SIMBA event in São Paulo

Creation date: 09 October 2007

In line with its objectives to increase road safety, improve mobility and enhance transport efficiency, the SIMBA project held its Brazil National Event in conjunction with the SIMEA Congress (International Symposium on Automotive Engineering) on 4 October 2007. Taking place at the Milenium Centro de Convenções in São Paulo, the SIMBA event was jointly organised by ERTICO and Associação Brasileira de Engenharia Automotiva (AEA).

In addition to a summaries of European and Brazilian priorities, the SIMBA event featured specific Brazilian proposal presentations on integrated traffic management/real-time traffic information, incident detection and emergency response (i.e. E-call) and road infrastructure safety (improving road security with automatic and intelligent control systems). These were followed by separate break-out sessions for each topic.

The outcome of the event included the creation of joint EU-Brazil expert working groups, project proposals and joint road transport research roadmaps.
