India ramps up highway spending Creation date: 28 January 2008 India's Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved construction of various ring roads, bypasses and flyovers.
These form part of the national highways network and are included under the US$4.2 Billion National Highways Development Programme VII. All will be implemented on a build-operate-transfer (toll) basis. Of the total investment required, the private sector would provide $2.6 billion and the state $1.6 billion, this latter figure being lower than originally anticipated.
